Grantham Hypnotherapy treatments
What types of symptoms and anxieties can be helped with hypnotherapy?
At Grantham Hypnotherapy we can help with virtually any stress, anxiety
or psychological problems, ranging from 'minor' things such as stopping
smoking, to more serious issues such as depression. Two
types of hypnotherapy offered
There are two different types of hypnotherapy used at my clinic, and
the therapies can be combined if necessary. Suggestion Therapy (clinical
hypnosis) is used for minor issues such as exam nerves, confidence
or stopping smoking. Analytical Hypnotherapy (Pure Hypnoanalysis)
for more serious issues or concerns allows clients in therapy to resolve
the root cause of their problem, thus freeing them from their symptoms
permanently. Suggestion Therapy
Most people can identify with hypnotherapy ( sometimes referred to
as clinical hypnosis) from the type of thing they may have seen on
TV : The application of suggestion to effectively change negative
thought patterns into positive ones and therefore bring about the
desired change for the client.
For example using the power of suggestion to find giving up
smoking ridiculously easy
Or perhaps all those situations a person would previously find stressful
are now simply calming and relaxing.
Hypnotherapy is perfect for all those situations where time is of
the essence ( you just have to fly off on Friday but the thought of
getting on the plane and sitting through a two hour flight is bringing
on the equivalent of a full blown panic attack) or you would like
to sit an exam, perform on a stage, sit your driving test knowing
you have done the very best you can and, not only that, actually enjoy
the experience!
Hypnotherapy is a fantastic way of managing such situations and will
bring about the desired result. If you consider yourself a person
without external pressures ( typically issues around career, money,
marriage, children, health ), this may well be all you ever need to
effect a permanent change for yourself! Hypnoanalysis
However after a Free 30 minute chat, you may find that given the opportunity
to just off load in a safe, supported and confidential environment,
you have lots of things you have just kept well, bottled up, maybe
for a few months or years or perhaps over an entire lifetime!
Why is pure hypnoanalysis such a fast, natural and effective
treatment?
Today G. P.s and primary health care workers are finding themselves
under continual pressure to give the patient who may simply just ’
need to talk’, their valuable time, not to mention a ‘solution’
to the problem!
In addition to appointments perhaps running over time, there is of
course the more prolific problem of our so called, Prozac Nation.
How is this to be addressed when recent statistics indicate that despite
being the fifth richest nation, the UK houses the unhappiest children
in the western world? ( UNICEF) A safe, gentle, natural
therapy ‘Pure’ Hypnoanalysis is not a led
therapy, not counselling, or advice giving but rather an amazing therapeutic
process, developed to help people permanently resolve their unconscious
anxieties and conflicts, freeing them from their symptoms and problems
in life. Whilst many other talking therapies keep the client in transference
for months
( possibly years ) our therapy aims for closure within 12 weeks
We are well aware of the accumulative effect of stress: we use expressions
like ‘the straw that broke the camels back’ or ‘
I’ve had it up to here!’ Let’s look at a very modern
stress such as a ‘road rage ’situation.
Could someone really feel that angry at another pinching their driving
spot? Not unless there was a whole back log of other unresolved stresses
in their life!
Some of these bottled up feelings we know about ( but would still
feel much better for off loading ) and some of it we might not. These
are the situations where we might have a feeling of living with something
inside ourselves but outside our own control Irrational fears, phobias,
compulsions, anxiety and stress which do not make any real sense to
us, are often driven by emotions which have not previously been expressed
possibly because it has never before felt safe to do so.
Consider the following scenario:
A young car crash victim who on recounting his version of events may
well say something like “I don’t know what happened really,
it all seems a bit of a blur. I can remember being helped into the
ambulance afterwards and I can remember exactly what watch was worn
by one of the ambulance men but after I started skidding I don’t
know what happened.” It would be a reasonable assumption to
make, that the fear generated when events became out of their control,
was strong enough to effectively remove all conscious thought. The
conscious part of our psyche will only tolerate a level of emotion
it feels comfortable handling. Therefore our road accident victim
remembers all the parts where some sort of order was restored to the
situation e.g. the ambulance men taking care of him. But what of the
emotion experienced during the terrifying moments when he can remember
nothing? That emotion may well be locked away in the subconscious.
Now that was an example of a highly emotional situation but is no
different from any other experience in so much that every moment of
every waking day the human psyche is subjected to a barrage of information.
We are constantly making split second decisions as to whether we can
‘cope’ with that information. Whether we retain it at
a conscious level or ( in that split second), prefer not to think
about it at all. A lot of these decisions are determined by a combination
of personality, experiences and perception of life to date.
In a nutshell : We simply bottle things up
Can you tell me about hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis sessions?
Hypnotherapy sessions last around 55 minutes and combine a chat around
the issue at hand, relaxation and positive suggestion. The session
is designed to put the client fully back in control with self-hypnosis
techniques they can take away with them and apply to their everyday
life.
Pure Hypnoanalysis sessions last around an hour. As with hypnotherapy
the session begins with relaxation .Although this is a talking therapy
it is not an intellectual exercise such as counselling or CBT where
you might expect to ‘ look’ for an answer to your problem.
Instead you will be encouraged to allow your mind to wander freely
over thoughts, experiences, images, memories. In fact anything and
everything that comes into your mind ! You can not go wrong. Really
it’s childs play! Why does hypnoanalysis work
so well compared to other therapies?
Because given a supported, non judgemental and safe environment your
mind will naturally find any bottled up feelings and in the release
of this emotion you will lower stress levels and strengthen your coping
mechanisms. Phobias, obsessions and compulsions can be effectively
and permanently removed. The bottom line is you will be back in control
of your life.
A good example of Free Association helping you to
do this naturally would be at a funeral ( and not even the funeral
of someone close to you). Perhaps you would agree that in such a situation
there is a certain amount of self reflection. You find thoughts drifting
to areas of your own life and associating with the emotion of the
event and allowing feelings to surface.
You feel safe in the environment, you allow yourself a little time
to reflect, you release the emotion. Hypnoanalysis typically takes
between 6 to 8 sessions.
